Let’s Talk Prep: Why Clean Nails are Happy Nails (1 min read)

The biggest secret to a long-lasting manicure is starting with a clean slate. You donโ€™t need to do anything hard, just three simple steps:Clean it up: Use a cotton wool and a tiny bit of non-acetone remover to wipe your nails. This takes off any oil or cream on your nail surface. If you skip this, the oil will stop the polish from sticking properly.Don’t forget the edges: Gently push back your cuticles. This makes your nail bed look longer and keeps the polish off your skin, which prevents chipping later on.Base Coat is your friend: Think of a Base Coat as a sticky shield. It protects your natural nail from staining (especially with bright colors like reds or blues) and gives your color something strong to hold onto. We have a great one in the shop!

The Simple Way to Paint: Two Thin Coats (1 min read)

When you are ready for your color, remember this simple rule: Thin coats are always better than one thick coat.A thick coat feels sticky, takes forever to dry, and will peel off quickly. Thin coats dry fast and look much smoother. The Three Stroke Rule: Dip your brush and wipe off most of the polish on the inside of the bottle neck. Then, paint your nail in three simple strokes: one down the center, and then one stroke on each side. Done!Wait for it: Wait for the first coat to dry almost completely before applying the second one. How do you know? Just tap the surface lightly. If it feels smooth and not sticky, you are good to go. The second thin coat gives you that rich, deep color we all love.We have so many lovely shades from Lexy Nail Couture that dry super quick and look great on every skin tone.

Keep Your Polish Fresh: Stop It From Drying in the Bottle (30 seconds read)

Do you have a bottle of polish that is getting thick and hard to use? Itโ€™s because air is getting inside!Clean the Neck: Every time you finish painting, take a cotton pad soaked with a little nail polish remover and wipe the thread of the bottle neck. If there is polish stuck there, the cap cannot close tightly, and air gets in to dry out your beautiful color.Store in a cool place: Keep your polish away from direct sunlight and heat. A cool, dark drawer is much better than keeping them by the window.
